It enrages me when people try to hide their bigotry with “I’m concerned for your health.” I never see these same people being concerned over someone’s health because of chronic dieting- which can lead to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and gallbladder disease among other things. It’s also an established fact that if you are a thin person that’s sedentary, you’re less healthy than the fat person who’s not. Body size is not a reliable indicator for health. Regardless, you’re not concerned for my health. You’re upset because I actively fight and refuse to conform to the “norms” that society says I should feel about my body.- norms you feel trapped by. You feel like you’re doing everything “right” and you’re not happy. Why should that fat girl get to be happy? Well, guess what? Your lack of self esteem is not my problem. Your faux concern about my health is not my problem. And that hate and jealousy that’s festering inside of you is not my burden to carry.
